Milan confirm talks over signing Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool
• Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi keen to bring in midfielder
• ‘I like him a lot, he’s an interesting player’
Milan’s owner, Silvio Berlusconi, has confirmed the club are in talks over signing Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool. The midfielder has been linked with a return to Italy all summer having spent last season on loan at Juventus.
Milan are looking to strengthen their midfield after failing to bring Fiorentina’s Riccardo Montolivo to San Siro – and Berlusconi admitted he is a fan of the 27-year-old.
“We are negotiating for Aquilani,” he said. “I like him a lot, he’s an interesting player. I’ve spoken about this with [the chief executive, Adriano] Galliani and [the coach, Massimiliano] Allegri. We will see what happens.”
Aquilani is under contract with Liverpool until June 2014 but is not part of Kenny Dalglish’s long-term plans at Anfield.

Liverpool’s Alberto Aquilani edges towards Fiorentina loan move
• Midfielder’s agent claims two clubs have agreed deal
• Loan depends on Italian agreeing personal terms
Alberto Aquilani’s agent has claimed a deal is in place with Liverpool to take the midfielder to Fiorentina.
The 27-year-old Italy international, a £17m signing from Roma in 2009, appears surplus to requirements at Anfield and is widely expected to join La Viola on a season-long loan.
Aquilani’s agent, Franco Zavaglia, has revealed the deal now hinges only on the player agreeing personal terms with the Serie A club.
“The agreement between Fiorentina and Alberto has not yet been reached,” Zavaglia told Gazzetta dello Sport. “If we talk of an agreement, that was only reached between the two clubs, because Fiorentina did not come to any decision with us.”
Aquilani has failed to settle at Liverpool since signing a five-year deal following his big-money arrival two years ago. He has made just 28 appearances for the club and spent last season on loan at Juventus.

Liverpool to offload Paul Konchesky and Milan Jovanovic
• Left-back will be allowed to join Leicester City for £1.5m
• Olympiakos, Anderlecht and Lille interested in Serb
Liverpool hope to start clearing their deadwood this week with Paul Konchesky considering a move to Leicester City and Lille keen on signing Milan Jovanovic.
Konchesky followed Roy Hodgson to Anfield from Fulham for £4m last summer and, like his former manager, has endured a dreadful time on Merseyside. He spent the end of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, and Liverpool are prepared to accept £1.5m for the left-back, providing he agrees to join Sven-Goran Eriksson’s team in the Championship. The 30-year-old has been granted permission to join Leicester at a pre-season training camp in Sweden where he will undergo a medical.
Jovanovic, who earned £120,000 a week during the first year of his contract with Liverpool, is also surplus to requirements and has attracted offers from Olympiakos, Anderlecht and Lille. The Serbia international said: “Lille, like Anderlecht, is a strong option. This is a good club, which plays at the top of French football, a high-level competition, and who will also play in the group stage of the Champions League. For me, that’s interesting.”
