Football Weekly Extra: Which manager is next for the chop?

On today’s Football Weekly Extra(aaaaaaaa), James Richardson’s joined by Sean Ingle, Barry Glendenning and Michael ‘Zonal Marking’ Cox to look back on a dramatic round of midweek fixtures in the Premier League that’s left the several managers clinging on to their jobs.

Roy Hodgson, Carlo Ancelotti, Gérard Houllier and Avram Grant all saw their teams crash to pitiful defeats – how close are they to the chop?

Elsewhere, we look forward to the third round of the FA Cup; rejoice at the return of Phil Brown to the dug out; and wonder what would happen if Jimbo took over Family Fortunes.

We’ll see you bright and early on Monday. In the meantime, post your feedback on the blog below, follow us on Twitter and Facebook, and get your tea-timely fix of football news with the Fiver.

Football Weekly Extra: Russia and Qatar get the World Cup

It’s a jam-packed Football Weekly Extra for your delectation. AC Jimbo’s joined by Barry Glendenning and a slightly poorly Paul Doyle to talk about the news from Fifa HQ in Zurich. Despite an unedifying orgy of brown-nosing from the English delegation, World Cup 2018 has been awarded to Russia, and it’ll travel to glorious Qatar in 2022. Will you shed a tear?

Aside from the politcs, we do talk football too. Sid Lowe joins us to look back on a quite spectacular 5-0 victory for Barcelona over Real Madrid, while Michael ‘Zonal Marking’ Cox gives his insight into the Carling Cup quarter-finals.

We also look forward to the weekend in the Premier League, featuring such glamourous ties as Bolton Wanderers’ trip to Manchester City, and Liverpool welcoming Gérard Houllier and his Aston Villa side back to Anfield.

We’re back bright and early on Monday with Rafa Honigstein and Philippe Auclair – so post your questions for them, along with your feedback on this show, on the blog below.

Football Weekly: Will England be caught with their pants down?

It’s a special international edition of Football Weekly, with your charming host James Richardson joined in the pod by Barry Glendenning, Jonathan Wilson and Raphael Honigstein.

First things first, we ask whether Montenegro will continue their excellent form with a result against England at Wembley, and round up all the other Euro 2012 qualifiers.

Elsewhere, we find out about the Bavarian Olympics, eavesdrop on Barry’s poolside chat with an, ahem, madame from Ukraine, and wonder if it’s possible to fly to Japan from Argentina without a stop-over.

Finally, we discuss Danny Murphy’s polemic against Sam Allardyce, Mick McCarthy and Tony Pulis , and – ahead of our trip to Merseyside next weekend – we bring you the latest on NESV’s takeover of Liverpool.

Follow us on Twitter, find us on Facebook, and get your tea-time fix every day with The Fiver.
